![]() The Strength of Business Network! Business networking is one of the most fundamental needs of any business. The success or failure of any new business can be largely dependent on whether or not they are able to build themselves a network of clients and customers during their startup period. Marketing, creating consumer loyalty and networking are all major factors in ensuring that you have the wealth of contacts that your business will need in order to be truly successful. Your marketing materials can go a long way towards building a contact network. Things such as pamphlets, brochures, business cards and handbills can go a long way towards raising awareness of any business. The business card is one of the most effective and simple ways of ensuring that your information gets to as many people as possible. A well designed card should be simple and straightforward, and should always look polished and professional. That sort of a business card will be remembered and held onto. Advertising and promo materials of all kinds should always be designed carefully, as the way you present your business through those materials acts as a kind of first impression. Studies have shown that the first impression that a customer has of a business is the longest lasting, and the one that most heavily influences their buying decisions in the future. Creating customer loyalty is a sure way to constantly build your network, not just with those customers but with the others that they will bring to you as well. Since advertising began, most marketers realize that word of mouth is still the most positive way to bring clients to a business. You use other advertising means to bring your first clients or customers to you and, once they are there, you must do everything in your power to please them. It is their word that will carry the most weight with everyone they know when they are shopping for a similar service. The word of a friend carries far more weight than that of an obviously biased advertisement, so the more people that you can instill a sense of loyalty in, the more customers that will ultimately come to you through word of mouth advertising. It is also important to realize where people expect to find people in your industry and to make sure you are there. Events like trade shows or conventions that are geared towards any specific industry are essential to attend in order stay competitive. People attend those events knowing that they will get to see a complete cross spectrum analysis of all the offerings in any given industry, and are frequently there looking to build contacts of their own. These events can play a very important role in acquiring a solid network, especially if you keep in mind the other tips mentioned such as having effectively designed marketing materials and ensuring that everything you do is keeping in mind the notion of creating lasting customer loyalty. Those three concepts together can be a powerful tool for constantly building a network of clients or customers.
